is there bikes on mars?
It physically hurt me to use that grammar in the title, but I couldn’t resist the Bowie reference. I’ll do my best to keep it proper from here on out.
On an alien planet, bikes might take longer to get around on, but they must be much more versatile than those big rovers, and a lot less bumpy. They take up way less space (pun not intended) in the rocket too. Plus, you notice a lot more while biking than driving. I’d think your average extraterrestrial ambassador would want to be in touch with their new environment.

This sketch is about two years old. It’s actually based on an experience I had with my friend Bradley when he came to visit me in Boise (and beyond) that summer. I’ve thought back on the concept several times since then, and I think I’m ready to revisit, update, and finish it! At this point, I expect it to expand into three separate pieces showing different points in this groundbreaking mission.
I’ve already updated the designs of the bike and the life support system (backpack). The suit is in progress.
This is the first new sketch. What I’m working on now is to be one of the three panels, and in my opinion, it’s already way beyond this doodle! It might take a bit, but I’m aiming to have all three finished by the end of May in order to show in June! Details forthcoming. -
biting your fingernails is like eating carrots.
I honestly don’t remember what prompted this thought, but I followed it. Here is a set of prints that came from it.
The original drawings are HERE.

These prints are available for sale at $6 for the pair, and I have several available.
If orange isn’t your thing, I’m totally willing to print a copy in another color more to your liking.
Ask me about it here or email me at masonspacestation@gmail.comNow that I’ve got a small stack of prints, I’m preparing to open an Etsy store. I think I have six or so. More on that soon.
More prints are in the process of being completed as well.

#partysasquatch
Summer is coming, and for about 50,000 people, that means Sasquatch Music Festival in George, Washington!
Ranch Fest for me :)
Well, a friend of mine has a super sweet modded out school bus that he and about a dozen friends will be road tripping to The Gorge in for the second time this year. This thing is decked out with couches, electric outlets, a bumpin stereo system, and even a queen bed! He’s asked me to do a few graphics on the outside of it. Fortunately, just a couple days after he asked me, while on an exploratory stroll through the forest of my mind, I discovered the #partysasquatch.
The #partysasquatch is an elusive creature, but I’ve managed to catch a few glimpses and create some rough sketches.
Something to be said about this particular squatch is that he’s just a dancin fool. I quietly observed his moves.

In this moment, he noticed me. He stopped dancing, stunned, though still bobbing his head to what I’m assuming were some pretty filthy beats.
It was unclear what his intention was with the tiny dancers in his hand, but they seemed to be enjoying themselves.

This wise squatch had some essential supplies in his fannypack. Traveling light.
The final product of this will either be a large vinyl decal, or I may end up just trying to paint it on the bus directly, either of which would be a new challenge that I’ll be excited to take on.
They leave on the 14th of May, so this project is gonna move!

Writing a few posts and listening to this. Drink The Sea by The Glitch Mob, thanks to my homie Chris for turning me on to it.

Yesterday afternoon and today I transferred and carved both of these drawings and I’m pleased to say that they are BOTH ready to print! Hopefully the rest of my afternoons this week will be as open as these so that I can show you the prints! I’ve said before that biting your fingernails is the same as eating carrots. I could do both all day long ha

Actually, I did exactly ONE stencil last month, and I did it on the 27th.
This was custom one of a kind gift wrap for my friend Arleth’s birthday. I gave her a LEGIT ninja turtle bandanna and a pbr tallboy wrapped in her #swag paper and green yarn.
I’ll likely use this stencil again.
March was a busy month for life outside of artwork; but April has already seen some good progress.Posted on April 2, 2012 with 1 note ()

Favorite word ever. abracadabra. I love the way it is constructed, and I highlight that construction with the splitting into 3 parts. Not only is the beginning the same as the end, but 5 of the 11 letters are A’s, and they’re evenly distributed throughout.
Cool word, right?
Anyway, in regards to the image itself, I feel like the coloring in the middle was a mistake. It looks like camouflage to me, I should have left the green out. I’m happy with the lettering though. I tried holding the pencil a different way that allows more fluid movement of my elbow, where I usually hold it as if I’m writing. abracadabra b!

This is the first in a series of whimsical warriors. It’s not done yet, but I’m happy with where I got today. Currently, I plan to make 5 total, and I hope to frame them all pretty wildly, and differently. I find great joy in elaborate drafting, and I got to get the ol tools out for this one :)
